Yesterday while driving to work I listened to Chip Ingram message, "Love, Sex and Lasting Relationships - Wake Up World! There's a Better Way to do Relationships! Part 2". There are men of God that can make you stop and pay attention to certain subjects and when it comes to relationships, love, sex Chip Ingram has a way to teach you, convict you but in the end makes you sit back and make you realize that yes, God's way is the BEST way. In today's world this teaching will make many people shake their head and say, "This is so out of date" or "Here we go...another Jesus Freak trying to tell me how to live my life and these so called "Christians" lives are just as messed up.

In The Midnight Hour...

It's something when you think God is not listening to you, you feel like He is not answering your prayers, you cry out to Him and just when you think you can't take any more He allows a "little" more to pile on you and just when you are on your knees, you can't cry even when you try you and feel like "enough is enough" that is when God comes through...in the midnight hour.

I am learning that the stronger your faith the more He will allow in your life and I'm learning that for me it is teaching me two things: (one) I realize no matter how strong I think I am I can do nothing with God, no way, no how (two) When the breakthrough comes I can give thanks to know but my Lord and Savior because He presses my back to the wall and then breaks through that wall.

These past weeks I have rushed into God's word, listening to God's word, listening to men of God, listening to God fearing business men when it comes to success, realizing where my strength comes from, realizing the God truly has not put a spirit of fear in me and begin to truly believe that "If God is for me, who can be against me?"

This collection of compositions for me represents for me to always push forward and not to look back, to truly begin to realize that when you fail it is an event, not who I am (a failure). I'm learning to be comfortable in my skin, to smile more, believing that I am "truly and wonderfully made"...

and so are you, never forget that.

13 For you created my inmost being;

MyLoveForMusic: InspirationSounds February 2009

This show was a challenge for me because of pride. I don't know why I think that when I make InspirationSounds podcast I suppose not to show there are times that I am going through "storms" in my life but in all honesty being a Follower of Christ it's okay to show sadness sometimes...it's okay to share when I have made mistakes or if I'm being hurt. It's okay to feel this way at time but I have choice not to let it overcome me because in the end when you are going through tough times I suppose to focus on my "provider" not my problems.

Another thing that has hit me is that when I do make mistakes it's okay to show that I'm human because what is so awesome about God is that he has always used flawed people and will continue to use imperfect people because he knows our fears, our faults, our shortcomings. From Adam and Eve to the Apostle Paul to John, he(God) will continue to use people like you and I because that is where he gets his glory because when a person has messed up they can look to people in the Bible and say, "If He can still love someone like King David, He can love someone like me too." This is where I am getting a revelation because we as Christians should not be afraid or ashamed to show our flaws because when a non-believer can look to people in this century as well to see that we as Christians mess up, we repent, we suffer the consequences for some decisions we make but they(a non-believer) can also see we are still blessed.

Dr. Charles Stanley put it perfect when giving the definition of *Grace and Mercy

Grace: It is God's undeserved, unearned favor, goodness,
kindness, and love towards us. It is also the only
means by which we are saved.

Mercy: is not getting what we
deserve.

Know this about God, He loves you, always has, always will. And it is true, God loves the sinner, not the sin. By me putting this podcast together it gave me a sense of peace and freedom to be able to share my pain, my hurt, my flaws and to let people know we as Christians have flaws, we make wrong choices but we know that our Heavenly God loves us, forgives us, want's the best for our lives.

Enjoy the music and always remember, once you give your life to Christ there no sin that can make stop loving you. Be Blessed

MyLoveForMusic: InspirationSounds - January 2009

This podcast went through a couple of song line up and just me finally recording this was a task within itself. This month has not been the best for me so far but I'm keeping my head up and keeping my eyes on Christ Jesus. I'm learning first hand that they are some situations I have to step out on faith, other situations I have to have patience. I have to keep reminding myself that I have to do what I can and God will do what I can't.



While listening to the playback of the tracks I selected it makes me sit back and reflect forward because I keep focusing on my mistakes I will never move forward in life and what my Lord and Savior has in store for me. This podcast almost did not get recorded until I read this passage from Proverbs 3:27-28...



27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it

when it’s in your power to help them.

28 If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say,

“Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.”



It reminds me to sow good in someone else life because people are hurting worse than yourself.

December 2008MLFM: InspirationSounds

Hello and Welcome back to another edition of MyLoveForMusic:Inspiration. These are my picks for the month of December and I have to admit these tracks mean so much to me because sometimes God has to remind me who's in charge and for me sometimes having back problems let's me know that I can work as many hours I want, try to achieve my degree if I don't have my health none of those things mean a thing and by me having my back give me trouble these past couple of weeks put that into perspective for me.



This month I truly have so much to be thankful for with having a job in this economy, having a roof over our heads, almost accomplishing something for almost a year and hoping to continue this (my podcast) for years to come. It was times where I wanted to throw in the towel and God put so many wonderful people around via web telling me to "hang in there" and I'm glad I did.



The month of November I introduced a new podcast segment which I will begin to bring you wonderful Gospel, Christian, and Smooth Jazz music because this is something I have wanted to do for a minute because for me I always wondered why can't great instrumental compositions be blended with some of the best Christian artists and I have come to realize that if this has come across my mind I'm sure it has crossed other people minds. Now I'm not trying to mix Gospel with "Club" music because to me I think that would be counter productive because I am not trying to live in both worlds. I know where God has brought me, where I was and if I'm obedient to Him where He will take me. For me when I hear many Gospel and Christian songs I sometimes pay attention to the gifted musicians and say to myself, "that would really be a nice instrumental track." God has gave wonderful gifts to these men and women and for them to bring music to the masses that have you not only relax but to reflect on God awesome blessing is a double, triple blessing in my book.



So, find a place where you can kick, relax, reflect on the goodness of the many blessing in your life.

Biblical Passage: Proverbs 25: 8-18

I know this is going to sound bias and I'm going to sound like a male chauvinist pig so I'm getting that out of the way right now but I often tell people that the only women I enjoy working around are geek women. With geek women gossip is truly at a minimum. They care about their appearance but I have never heard them tear down another woman, well at least while I'm around. They are not into dumb shows like Desperate Housewives, Girlfriends, Sex & the City, The Starters Wife (while USA Network airs that show I will never know), Tyler Perry movies...yes I said it.

Gossip is something I have heard men and women do from time to time and it's very easy to get caught up in it. Gossip is one of those subtle sins that before you know it you're right in the middle of that mess. You don't think you get caught up in it? Have you ever read PEOPLE, US, Star magazines? Have you ever watch any so called Reality shows?

It's amazing so many things that are positive that surrounds us and many times we are drawn to the negative. There is the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, TLC, National Geographic Channel, heck for me The Weather Channel is productive (they play some of the best smooth jazz when showcasing "The Local on the 8's"). Do you own a mp3 player? So many positive podcast are out here from pastor Greg Laurie, Paul Sheppard, Dr. Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah, Tony Evans, the late Adrian Rogers & Dr. J. Vernon McGee, Michael Yousef, James McDonald...and these are national pastors and I'm sure that there are local pastors in your area that great teachers of God's word. You have some great music podcast (mine included...hint, hint), great tech shows and yet we sometimes get sucked into the gossip abyss.

I love the book of Proverbs. If you ever want sound, no nonsense every day advice this is the book to read a chapter a day. So much is written about gossip because God knows that is where the majority of all problems begin...word of mouth. If we want our children, our grandchildren gossiping or talking ill of people we as adults must lead by example when it comes to what we read, what we watch, what we say. Let's begin to make our home, our speech a "Gossip-Free Zone".

Our Daily Bread: Waiting
Biblical Passage : Psalm 70 (New Living Translation)

There are so many ways to approach this subject on patience. I thought I was a patient person but then a situation comes up from time to time and I see I have a long way to go. There are some things I can just sit back and wait and other things I wish it would come and be over with (like the election...thank goodness it is over). It's amazing when waiting on God to respond to certain things in my life I want him to act "right now, CHOP, CHOP!

But I realize I am on His time table and not the other way around and deep down I know in the end it is always in my best interest. I think back on past relationships that I knew "man she is right for me" and now I look back and say, "Thank you Jesus for not answering that prayer." I have to get this through my head day in and day out which is so true each day I am on this earth, God ways are not my own ways plain and simple. He knows what I need in my life, what I need to pursue, what I need to avoid but it's up to me that when I go His way that I learn how to realize that while I'm waiting, God is working.

Now waiting on God does not mean I just sit back at do nothing. This means I keep doing what is right for my family, for myself and just know that God is working it out in my favor and I'm not going to lie that is not easy to do many times but if I don't want to start from zero it's best to do it His way. The next time you read about Abraham or about Jonah read how when they did not do it God's way and not have patience how many times that they were placed at the very starting point where they began. I have had those kind of situations and let me tell you, the older you get the less fun that is beginning all over again. You begin to learn that doing it God's way, the right way saves you so much unnecessary grieve.

Not being patient, doing it your own way will work for you for a little while but when it falls apart, it falls apart hard and your ways breaks in sometimes a million pieces and sometimes you cannot put it back together again and in the end you are left with the three famous words many hate to say and go through, "shoulda, woulda, coulda". Learning not rush God is a lesson that will save you heartache in the very end...but being a Follower of Christ we already know this right?

RIGHT!?!

A Great Fresh Air Episode to Check Out

As you well know my love for music(no plug for myself I promise you) and how I try and bring you music, music insights, and how the music industry has change and yesterday NPR's Terry Gross showcased a music segment that is truly worth while listening to if you want to know how the landscape of digital music has played on you and I receive our music now.

The first half of the show Terry interviews Eliot Van Buskirk of Wired.com on how we now discover, listen and purchase our music. It's kind of sad that it has taken mainstream this long to realize that major music companies are not the main players in the music world any more. They hit on SWSX, CD Baby, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and as Eliot tell Terry that you can not lock down music because it only hurts the "law abiding" citizen (haven't John Coulton, Leo Laporte and others been screaming this for years?)

The second half of the show Dan Kennedy is interviewed in reference to what he thought was a "dream job" working in the music industry until he realize that in a nutshell the major music labels are behind the times which resulted in him being laid off from Atlantic Records when he was a Creative Development Director. This may be a podcast when you hear it, you say, "about time they[mainstream] is getting it but for me this is still a good podcast to check out and learn from because even though I follow music I can always learn something new...even if it's just a couple new music websites.

I have learned that the more you open to people the more you can get hurt, disappointed and do the same to others. But I have also learned that in the end we really do need one another. Over time you find out who will be in your life just for a season or a lifetime. Having someone to share your thoughts, your ideas, your likes and dislikes is a true blessing. For many years I had the problem of not opening up to people for fear of rejection because of my appearance, my speech (I stuttered really bad). It took me moving away from my small town to realize that (1) It was more than just Madison, Illinois (2) People will be people.

Over the years I have become more confident in myself, I have began to love myself more and more, trust in God more and to be true to myself. Learning to be true to myself was the biggest hurdle I had to jump and when doing so I believe that is when I truly found my true self. This is when I realized that God has blessed us all with different gift, different ways of communication with people. I have learned that it's okay to disagree on some issues but I have also learned to never compromise your integrity...it's about doing right and not being right all the time.

Surround yourself with people who "like you for you" is a great thing but sometimes being around someone who is totally opposite of you makes you realize what you will and will not tolerate in your life and many times you may find out you may have more in common with that person than you realize. One of favorite movies is "The Breakfast Club" where these five students realize that's it's cool to just be yourself and learn to open yourself up to people who on the outside you may not have things in common but later you may find out you do.

The main thing is seek God when it comes to meeting someone, you may be surprised who becomes a close friend.

Whenever I see an older person in their 70s and up I call them "libraries" because for me that is a wealth of information, wisdom. I am learning more and more how it is important to share wisdom and fun times with my grandchildren. When they come over it's their time to be "children". Sure the Mrs. and I give them chores but most of all it's really fun spending time with them. When spending time with them it takes me back to when I spent time with my grandmother and how she did not have much just her love, her attention toward me meant the world to me.

I have to admit not having any children of my own and coming into a blended family has at sometimes been a struggle but this year has been pretty good. Our Christmas get together went well, and Casey and I played the Wii (which I recommend every adult get one, loads of fun) but most important teaching him patience, showing that you care, and allowing him to see that you put God first always is the most important to me. I am learning and loving God's word more each day and I think another reason why my relationship with the grandchildren are much better. They see how much I love their grandmother(man that's sound really weird, but in a good way) and they know I go out of my way to respect, honor her.

Giving gifts is cool but showing respect for your elders and showing respect for the younger generation is more precious. Having these family stories are the true treasures for the very young and the very old.

I like the name of this devotion because so many people, Christians and non-Christians feel this way many times when it comes to following God's ways. I think many times people feel like God's ways keep us from having fun and for me that is the opposite. My opinion I wish I would have learned his ways years earlier. God does not want to keep us on a "tight leash" so to speak.

Think of it at times with our own children. We have one child that when we tell them something to do once, we tell them the consequences for their actions(good and bad) they get it and we rarely have to tell them again. We are not saying that this child is a saint but the responsible they are the more freedom they have because they can be trusted and we as parents do not mind giving them perks. Now the other child we have to stay on them constantly. They wish to do their own thing but do not wish to deal with the consequences for their actions. They complain, they whine assisting that life is not fair, they are always getting singled out but do not want to deal with the fact his troubles is his own causing and this is how are with God at times.

We know deep down the road choices we make will either bring us joy or pain and what's really sad many times we think we are pulling the wool over on God. I love how the devotion says that "God gives us a long leash" so to speak but if we do our best to live by his principles we do not have to worry about looking over our shoulder to see if God is "gonna zap us". And to be honest God is not that way, he has given you and I free will but has made it very clear of the blessings and curses we will receive if we live by his word of rebel against his word plain and simple. He knows we are going to make mistakes but I look at life like this...life is hard enough so why add unnecessary heartache to it?

This devotion truly sums it up for me, Christ did not die on the cross so we could treat him like a "Genie in the bottle", to just snap our fingers to make our problems go away but he died for us to (1) have eternal life (2) To give us peace in time of conflict (3) To be the light for others. I have said this before but we as Christians sometimes get it twisted when it comes our heavenly Father. Sometimes even as Christians I think sometimes we treat God like he is an Monopoly "Get out of Jail" free card. The Holy Bible is an instruction book on how to live our lives.

There are so many awesome things about His word. First and foremost God used people with some serious flaws and I think that is where we as Christians has to get that point across. I mean really think about it, he used a man (Saul at the time) who was a persecutor of Christians, who gave the okay to arrest, imprison, and execute Christians. Peter who denied Christ 3 times in order to save face with the public. King David who not only slept with another man's wife but had the guy killed. So many others in the Bible who was flawed, who made mistakes by accident or on purpose God still used them to do great things and that is why I love God so much because goodness knows I have made so stupid mistakes.

We as followers of Jesus Christ have to let the world know that when you give your life over to him things are not going to get easier, to some degree the walk will become more tedious because we are going against the world tide now. We have to let people know we are not better than anyone because we are still flawed, we will make mistakes, we still from time to time will miss the mark but the great thing now is that more our walk becomes closer with God the more humble we become and that when we die we do not have to worry about where we will spend eternity. We also have to let people know that when God has told us things not to do he is not trying to keep anything away from us because he sees the end results and he does not want us to suffer unnecessary pain because we go through enough pain as it is when dealing with the world. The older I get the more I realize that though I do not wish to go through some things in my life it makes me stronger, wiser and it makes me more sensitive to others in need.

A great podcast from "Speaking Of Faith" 4/12/2007

This is a wonderful podcast. Why do we as Christians allow others in our camp to paint us in a corner. Richard Cizik (of the National Association of Evangelicals.) asked this question in regards to his belief that God has given us domain over the earth and how it is being destroyed. I know God created this earth but I really enjoy science, love nature. Richard is interviewed by Krista Tippett. Mr. Cizik asked the question, "Why can't I be a Christian and care about the environment?" Being a Christian is wonderful but it is a hard road to walk today and it not pressure from the outside world but from within our own camp. It's amazing how well known men like James Dobson (Focus on the Family) can cry out about abortion, gay marriage but keep silent on racism, sex outside of marriage, people living together outside of marriage and from what I learned from this interview oppose Mr. Cizik of caring for the environment? I love Mr. Dobson as a brother in Christ Jesus but sometimes I really think with him and many in his camp they fail to realize that all of these issues places a part in our world. This is my first time hearing of this gentlemen and what he believes in makes clear sense to me. I hope you get a chance to listen to this podcast or download it and give it some thought. To me I do not call Mr. Cizik a Christian...I call him a "Follower of Jesus Christ", which is a very good thing.

Devotion and Reflections for Wednesday

This was a neat devotion. I try leave "heartprints" where ever I go. Not to be noticed but because coming up as a youth and going through the things I have went through, I always said to myself I will try and not treat people the way I was treated. Prime example, when first entering high school, I don't know where this tradition came from but juniors and seniors would call "freshman day" where that was some sort of hazing really; they stuff freshman in lockers, beat on them, make the run around the gym in the jockey garment (or as we called them jockey straps). I was blessed in many ways (well one was I was 6'4" and about 245lbs so that helped me a lot) but I said to myself whenever I became a senior I would not do this to incoming freshmen and I didn't.

Leaving "heartprints" is a choice of a individual plain and simple. I remember hearing a pastor talk about you want to leave a good feeling whenever someone mentions your name and I know what he's talking about because it happens in your church, at work, on campus each day. When we here some names it brings a smile to our faces and with other names of individuals mentioned, eyes get the rolling, HUGE sighs come out, smiles drop from our faces and comments like, "or...are you sure you want to have him or her over?"

One good way is just be yourself, I learned this about 15 years ago from a close friend. People would always gravitate around him and I always wandered why. I watched him day in and day out then God brought to me. He has made each and every one of unique to bring something to the table. God has giving us all gifts and that is how I began just being myself, and before I knew as time has passed by I see the same thing happening to me.

It makes me feel good when I'm able to bring a smile to another's face because in this day and time this world has really become superficial. We have a generation, young and older, with a attitude of "give me because I exist" not "help me because we can not be an island all to ourselves". I made it my mission that if someone does not know something and I do, whether it's something about God's word, how to surf the web better, anything...and if they are willing to learn, I will teach them and if I don't have the answer, I will try and direct to a individual who does know the answer.

I try to never make a person feel stupid because some of us learn quicker than others, you and I didn't come out knowing everything but we have come across people in our lives that think and act otherwise. I do not act this way because I wish to get a pat on the back, I do this because people took time out of their lives when I was coming up and showed me that there are people out here that's not always looking to get over on you or try to belittle you in front of others after they have shared knowledge or a skill with you.

Try and be a person today that when you leave your "heartprints" people are not trying to wash them away once you leave their presence.

This is a 'right on' word because many times we do not know where or who to turn to when storms arise. I mentioned in a earlier entry how difficult times will come and in the end it will make us stronger and wiser. Sometimes the shortest verses or passages in the bible give us more insight on certain situations.

One thing many people fell to realize and hate to talk about is the grief we bring in our own lives. True, they are many times that situations, hardship comes up in our lives that we have no control over but if we are honest with ourselves there are times that we allow unnecessary troubles in our "circle" of life. Whether we participate in gossip that we know we should just turn the other way, getting into relationships with someone that we know deep down that he or she are not what we're looking for or signing a contract because we have to have it "right now".

We have all been there and sometimes the outcomes are devastating. I always tell people that, "there are problems in life and then there are unnecessary problems in life". We must learn how to be strong in the Lord and no when not to go down those roads because of peer pressure, keeping up with the Jones' because believe me that impulse of "must have it right now" will pass.

Troubles and trials will come in our lives, can't get around it but what we can get around is how we will respond to them and having the wisdom not to put ourselves in certain situations to begin with so we won't suffer that, "shoulda, coulda, woulda" sydrome (yes I know those are not real words but we say those three words from time to time..admit it).

I love God because he is not trying to keep anything from me...He's trying to keep me safe from unnecessary heartache down the road.

Leo Laporte....this man can do no wrong. I have called in twice to the show, KFI Tech Guy and let me tell you, this guy is so nice, so humble. He does not mind helping you out at anytime, if he has the answer, he gives it to you; if he doesn't have the answer, he will let you know and will throw the question out to the listeners for the answer. For a gentleman who is known really around the tech world this guy is so down to earth it makes you wander, "why can't all geeks be this way?" Leo has made learning computing, learning about tech gadgets, fun, entertaining, educational all at the same time.

I remember first hearing and seeing him on TechTV along with Patrick Norton, Kevin Rose, Roger Chang, Chris Pirillo and the whole gang. To me this was "smart television". But smart does not roll over to good ratings. After 5 years Paul Allen sold it and the channel became G4 TV and down it went. I had a gut feeling Leo would be gone soon because to me G4 is very low brow. Fast foward to now....

Leo has a much larger following now and it makes me smile because with him and the ex-TechTV group doing their own podcast, video show over the internet it gives me hope that nice guys (especially geeks) sometime finish first. This is why I do what I do and hope one day I can help as many or more people like this true gentleman is doing.
