Reflections for Wednesday{01/23} and a Little Tech News

Kingdom Living>>>more
devotion from rbc ministries

When reading this devotion it makes me realize that many times how you win someone to Christ Jesus is not throwing Bible verses toward them but your walk with Christ. As one friend told me years ago, "you have to get down in the trenches with them." I come to realize that when you show people that you are vulnerable in some areas in your life, that you too have weakness but by trusting in God you overcome them "day by day" they realize that you are not painting yourself as a Holy Roller. There is a difference between "religion" and being "Christ like". Christ love the sinner but not the sin. Just about every miracle Christ Jesus performed he let them know how much he loved them but he also told them to "sin no more".

I have written on this before but it bares repeating that we have let the lost know we are there from them but at the same time we have to realize that we are not better than anyone but at the same time we can not allow ourselves to lose our way because our job is to plant the seed, God saves them. If a person wish to hear the Gospel that is great news, if they do not, we have to realize that God has given us free will to follow him or not but we keep them lifted up in prayer. This task may be hard at times but I always keep this in mind, "they are not rejecting me, they are rejecting Christ Jesus.

Jesus has told us that our walk with him will not be easy, we will have obstacles we will have to come across time and time in our lives but the reward in having God in our lives outweigh not have God in our lives. We will make connections and sometimes we will lose friendships but in the end we have to do what our Father tells us to do because in the end he knows what we need in our lives, what people we need to socialize with and what principles we need to live by in order to have a fulfilling life.

Be Blessed, Be Safe,

Monday Morning Widsom & Other Gems

Forever Joyful>>>more
from RBC Ministries

I am beginning to realize more and more that I do not want to be happy and I am not seeking happiness anymore. I'm I am being a "downer"? Nope, far from it. I am learning that I wish to have joy in heart and my spirit and I wish to share joy with people more so than happiness. I am learning that when you have joy you are content with what you have in the moment. This is not to say that you do not strive to better yourself because God wants you and I to have fulfillment in our lives but He wants you and I to have our priorities in place when seeking to better ourselves.

When you focus on God's word first, read his word, do the best that can by living out his word the blessings are endless. He knows we are going to slip up from time to time but when you repent and truly mean it his mercy and grace is with you always. Where we go wrong is when we take our eyes, mind, heart away from his principles, striving just for material things is when we begin a downward spiral. We lose focus of family, friends, what is truly important to us day in and day.

The more you train yourself in God's word the more you realize that day by day you will be thankful for what you have, you are content with what you have and before you know you will not only be God centered but he will truly give you "the desires of your heart" while not losing focus on what truly brings you joy.

Be Blessed, Be Safe and
Have a Wonderful Monday

Listening to this message this morning gave me more insight on the book of Revelation. It makes me strive to learn more about the last book in the bible. Dr. Woodrow Kroll for me has always has a "down to earth" way of teaching God's word.

What We All Got For Christmas
(Enduring Truth) with Paul Sheppard

I'm going to be honest, some people may not like this message and some may. Pastor Sheppard breaks it down giving the true meaning of Christmas. What's best about this message is that he encourages us to surround ourselves with people who walk with God is deeper than ours so we can really appreciate God's ways.

Yesterday while taking the grandkids to have their picture taking I had a chance to begin catching up on my tech podcast and I was drawn to Paul Thurrott's latest podcast with Leo Laporte. Love windows, hate Windows...we will come across this OS whether we want to or not. I truly enjoy the way Paul teaches the ins and outs of Windows. I have a Vista machine and while I have it I might as well try and learn some of the tricks on this OS. Whether or not it will be with us in the long time will tell but for now it never hurts to learn every now and then.

weekend devotion & reflections

Finding God In The Darkness>>>more
devotion from
our daily bread
leave a comment here or techmusicgospel

Many people come to Christ Jesus in different situation. I came to him in the autumn of 1999. I had been living with a young lady and we had been dating off and on for about 7 years. It had come to a point where I was tired. Tired of missing God's best for me, knowing what I really wanted for my life and knowing now if I were to be single all of my life that would have been okay with me, I was just tired. That is my "finding God in the darkness" experience.

I have a friend that came to the Lord while she was a drug dealer. She's young, very beautiful but just got tired of the life style. She was getting everything material wise, the clothes, the money, the cars but still was wandering in darkness. She told me one day she was at home, knelt down in the middle her living cried out to Him to show himself, she said she wept like a baby for hours and in that God came into her life began a new chapter in her life.

I
am not saying once you allow God to become the Lord of your life that you can walk around with rose colored glasses but what I am saying that the pressures of life are much easier to bear because you do not feel like you are at your wit's end. When you begin your day with the Lord by reading His Word, praying and giving Him thanks for another day you and I begin to put things into perspective. Each morning before my feet hit the floor I ask Him, "Lord, what is Your will for me today?"

G
od is here for you each and everyday because He knows since the fall of man we will encounter obstacles in our lives and He does not want our lives to be stressed to a point where we do not know where to turn. I don't know about you but to know they is an instruction book for my life is a true blessings because more and more our lives our becoming more hectic with the pressures of life telling us that it's okay to take short cuts, if you hurt someone on the way toward your goal is their fault for being weak is so prevelent now. This past week I say on our local news a book called, "The 48 Laws of Power" and it basically tells you to do whatever it takes to get to the top without having any remorse and if you wish to take that route I always try and keep in mind that no matter what their are always consequences for my actions. Do I want blessings to overtake me or do wish to live with the constant "looking over my shoulder"...I choose the former.

M
any people think that Christ Jesus teach people to be door mats and that is further from the truth. Read a chapter of Proverbs each day. Read the sermon on the mount (Matthew chapters 5 thru 7) and then read Matthew chapter 10. I am finding more and this inspired word of God has all the answers for me. I'm I saying not to read anything else...of course not, the apostle Paul read the scriptures and many other material but the word of God was his compass, this is what kept him balanced and kept him walking in the light.

W
alking in the light(living by God's word) keeps me focus, keeps me balance, keeps me moving forward in life because even I am passing through the darkness, it is what is...passing "through the darkness" and not wallowing in the darkness.

Be
Blessed,
Be Safe, & as always

Wonderful Weekend

Devotions for Monday...Good Morning Everyone

The Choice>>>more
from rbc ministries

This devotion and scripture reading from rbc ministries rings so true. Our Lord gave you and I choices in life. He created you and I to either obey Him or not. If we do obey Him, He will give us directions, be with you and I in time of need, make a way when it seems no way is there, if we don't, when trouble comes, we will feel confused, frustrated, lost, our emotions will be a roller coaster...up and down, jolting you and I from side to side.

Many times non Christians think God is sitting up in Heaven with the gavel and as soon as we screw up His ready to pound on you and I but you really have to get to know Him(reading and meditating on His word) and like that loving parent or guardian that brought raised us.

Example, I knew my mother loved me very much but there were rules that she set in place for me as I was growing up. If I obeyed them I was fine but if I didn't follow them they were consequences to follow. Sometimes privileges were taking away from me (like being stuck in the house with no television, no company over, could play with my toys) and if I really got out of hand I would find myself getting a whoopin'(I know it's whipping but in my house it was the other word) and find myself on restriction. This taught me two things; obey my mom....good things(blessings), disobey my mom...consequences(curses). But with God it's much more deeper than our parents raising you and I because sometimes God allows obstacles so we can rely on Him and to grow you and I spiritually, mentally because let's be honest no parent likes to see their children struggle(this is why two parents should be in the home because it has to be balance, some single parent can create balance in the home but it is so much more stressful...I didn't have both parents and my mother did the best she could but she sheltered me in some ways and it hurt me down the road...and fathers can shelter their children the same way hurting them in the end).

One thing that our natural parents and guardians try to teach us, as well as God is that life is not always fair, people will be cruel just because and things will not go our way all the time. God takes it one step further, unlike our parent who cannot be with us always, God is with us at all times. We may not think He is but He's there and when you live by His commands, the blueprint he set before you and I life goes much smoother. When things get tough He has us look within ourselves to see if are doing the right thing and if we are honest with ourselves and we are living according to His word then we know there is a blessing in the end for us and we do not have go through the "shoulda, woulda, coulda" syndrome.

Living by God's principles are simple, it's not easy, I can vouch for that but my life is less stressful, painful, I don't blame others the way I used to do and for me it eases my mind as well. God has my back no matter what is going on in my life. God gave me a choice...choose blessings or curses, life or death...I choose blessings and life, not because of someone made up my mind for me but because I have lived life long enough to get the message from my way of living.

Be Blessed, Be Safe and have a productive work/school week

Has Bill Gates Lost Touch With The Masses(or does he something we do not?)

Microsoft unveils Vista editions>>>more
from BBC News.co.uk

Let's be honest, it's still early to come out to give it thumbs up or thumbs down about Vista. I have learned over the years some products are good coming out of the gate, some products it takes time to build up steam to get going and other products are disasters before they even hit the shelves. How do I feel about Vista personally? I know I will have to use it later down the line, I will go out and purchase books on Vista but I may not begin using Vista until the middle of 2007 or 2008 because to me I think with Microsoft the first year their products hit the shelves is really the "test run".

from the BBC article people are not pleased so far but like I said it's early. One thing I still can't wrap my mind around is:

  1. Why is it going to be six(6) versions of this product?
  2. Why will it take about 15GB to run this OS(Operating System)?
  3. What's the deal with the EULA? (I need to listen to Leo Laporte and Paul Thurrott netcast again because I still can't make heads or tails of this thing)
I really hope Steve Jobs is taking notes of this what Microsoft is doing to it's core users. Steve and company can sit back and laugh at Bill or really take a good hard look at what not to do when it comes to your customers. Everyone knows that Microsoft is trying to bully people into Vista, they're not coming out with a Service Pack 3 until 2008 which as Leo puts it..."that means waiting forever because they can come out with Service Pack 3 this year." I have mentioned this in one of my post. I really wonder has Bill Gates lost touch with reality? Or maybe he has something up his sleeve. This year maybe the best year for Microsoft, maybe we should hang in there for the long haul, I hope for their sake because I know next year I'm working my butt off to get a couple of Apple machines and really get into Ubuntu because unless Microsoft pull of what Steve and company did with Apple, it's may take a long time for Microsoft to recover from this decision they have made with this OS. I'm not an expert and I'm learning more about the web, the different OS products and it's fun but I am a consumer that works hard to earn my money and when many consumers gets burned by a product where we have to plopped down $400 it takes a while for the average American to bounce back from that. But like I said in the beginning...it's too early to call.

Prove us all wrong Bill Gates...prove us wrong.

Thursday Devotion & Tech News

What Happened at the Cross>>>more
from In Touch Ministries

I love God's word, the mind of God. To me this is the only book you and I can read over and over and find new meaning, deeper revelation each and every time. Just when I think I know what happened at the Cross I may read the same passage and receive a better understanding of why Christ died for us. It's amazing of Christ true love for me, for you, for anyone that turns over their life to Jesus.

I am deep thinker, I'm not a brainy or anything but I think about certain situation and really ponder about them like with our Lord and Savior: to know that not only the anguish He was going to face, the friends you were going to make only to know in the end that one will betray you, one will deny you not only once but three times. Twelve men that walked with you for 2-3 years will now run for cover because they were afraid that they would receive the same fate Jesus did. To be riding on a donkey receiving praises one moment and being cursed at, spit upon the next. Knowing that your entire body would be ripped open down to the bone, beating so bad that you would not be recognized. Having to carry your own cross to the place you would hang for hours while people jeered at you, making fun of you. And all of this knowing that down the road that people to this day will say that you were a fake, a fairy tale, that people will think it's foolish to follow someone like yourself...why would Jesus put himself through this? He knew we could not save ourselves and most important His love for you and I.

I hear scholars try and explain the reason why we humans are the way that we are. As a child I was very interested in science and after all I have learned I have come to realize one thing more and more, to me the Holy Bible explains it all for me. It's amazing how I have done things and asked myself, "why in the heck did I do that?" Then I get into God's word and it makes it clear to me plain and simple...I was born into sin. I know I can not do anything without Him and I am so grateful. To me, atheists can call me foolish all they want but I know His goodness, His mercy, His grace for me, His love for me is true. Not because someone made me believe in Him, I grew up in church, walked away from God, tried other ways to feel that void in my life through reading horoscopes, reading Rune cards and stones but none of them performed the major thing that my Lord and Savior performed...He died for my sins so I live today and forever. To have happiness not only in heaven but on this earth as well and spread His Good News.

Thank you Lord for giving me another chance, for not giving up on me...Thank you.

Be Blessed, Be Safe, & Have a Great and Productive day everyone (you and yours)

Devotions for Monday

Keep Running!>>>more
from Harvest Online

Here it is another Monday morning, going into a job that is something I really don't care for, speaking with people that I not really grateful, working with some people that I don't get along with from time to time. I want to call in, I want to take this day and rest from the long weekend dealing with 4 beautiful grandchildren and our wonderful niece. I could take off, I have some PTO available but I have to keep pressing on because I have an obligation to my God, myself, to my wife, to my job.

It's the same for our Lord and Savior, He did not have to go to calvary for us but He did so we can have a covenant with God again. There are going to be times when we get tired of the persucutions of others, dealing with the rejection from co-workers, family members, friends who don't understand your way of living for the Lord...you have to keep pressing on not only for ourselves but for Jesus Christ. We have to reach as many people as possible not only by our words but by our actions, the way we live our lives.

Everyday before I sit in front of the computer I get nervous on what to type, what to say, I go blank. And every time my Heavenly Father gives me the words and wisdom to say what needs to be shared with you, the readers. Satan attacks me every morning, "why are doing this? This is a waste of time. You're not reaching anyone. You're never going to be able to do this full-time." But he's a liar because whenever you're close to your mark that is when it becomes the roughest to keep going. It's worth the pain to keep pushing forward.

Whatever God has put in your heart to pursue, being a doctor, being a writer, being a stay home mother (which is a full time job in itself...what would we do without you), your children will try you, test and exams may get tough, not getting the reconition you deserve...keep pushing on because your hard work is not in vain. Your Father is putting people in your path that one day when you least expect it your hard work will all pay off. I remember what Dr. Charles Stanley once said and I hold on to it..." when we are waiting, God is working."

Hold on to the faith.

Have a Blessed and Productive Monday.

Apple Is Getting Me Angry

Pod People Ponder Litigation>>>more
from Wired.com/news

Leo Laporte once said that he's happy that Apple does not have the market shares as Microsoft because if they did, Steve Jobs would be twice as ruthless...I tend to agree;

this letter sent out by Apple this Wednesday to some companies not to use the word 'Pod' or 'Podcast' just proves sometimes how small and petty Jobs can be at times. I like Apple products, I still have my blue and white G3 tower, I have a couple of iPods, I like there hardware, how I have told many of people that Apple for me has made learning 'computing' fun again. But there are somethings I do not like.

I recently had a hard drive die on me, the Maxtor OneTouchII was not a year old when it went and died on me. I had many mp3s...no AAC downloads (this is Apple format for their downloads) and me being foolish did not back them all up.

Now I share part of the blame for my laziness but what gets under my skin is that Apple has a database showing that I purchased these songs yet if I lose them...too bad, and when I go and purchase the songs again (and I feel I shouldn't) a warning box will pop up stating, "Are you sure you wish to purchase this song, you have already downloaded before" or something to that effect. So you know my next question; if you have my information why should I have to buy them from you again?

This past Sunday Leo and the gang on TWiT mentioned that on Will Wheaton's blog that he lost his songs and contacted Apple and they let him retrieve them again. I will try and find out how Wil went about that miracle and when I find out, I will pass it on to you because it's a shame that first Apple put their stupid DRM codec on their downloads and second if you lose your downloads, you have to pay again for the songs "YOU" purchased.

I wrote about this I think earlier this month or last month about eMusic. I really hope they pass iTunes because it's cool how they have their system set up. I am going back to buying CDs because I will always have the hard copy.

Sorry about that...I was really suppose to comment on this stupid letter from Apple about trying to stop other companies from using the word 'Pod' or 'Podcast' and I go on about not being able to retrieve lost downloaded songs from Apple.

Just makes me mad.

This seems like a good idea. So many people, cusomers believe that the large companies are not listening. Well Jonathan Schwartz from Sun is trying to break that mold.
