When I was in grade school I worried about being chased by bullies, beat up (by hand) by bullies. Now in Illinois a growing number of children are being bullied by...the internet.
When growing up you heard the saying, "Sticks and Stones may break your bones but words can never hurt you". That people is a lie. Having a rumor spread around the school yard is one thing but post a lie on the World Wide Web where not only your school mates but everyone in your town might read it...that can be traumatic for a youngster. Being slandered sometime is worse than a physical beaten because once your self confidence is beaten down it may take a very long time for a person to recover.
